DA: Eat brown rice for a good cause

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) has launched “Brown4Good” in a bid to encourage the people of Central Luzon Region to eat brown rice for a good cause.

“Every time you get to eat brown rice, either at home or in certain restaurants in the region, snap a photo of it or take a selfie with the brown rice, then post it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram captioned with the hashtags #BROWN4good and #Region3,” DA Information Officer Anabelle Mendoza said.

She added that every post of brown rice on social media is equivalent to a hundred-gram cup of brown rice given to the less fortunate.

Mendoza said that whichever region manages to generate at least 50,000 posts on social media with the said hashtags will be declared the winner.

“I’m sure, with the prevalence of social media nowadays, we will achieve this challenge, or even exceed the 50,000 posts,” she noted.

The “Brown4Good” challenge kicked-off on August 28, in preparation for November’s National Rice Awareness Month and will run until October 31 this year.
