DAANBANTAYAN Mayor Vicente Loot confirmed that six villages in the town have been cleared from illegal drugs, but their status has yet to validated by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The villages include Carnaza, Calape, Dalingding, Tinubdan, Tominjao, and Logon.
Loot said it was the respective Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils that recommended for the six villages to be declared "drug-cleared."
In 2016, President Rodrigo Duterte named Loot as one of the illegal drug protectors, along with retired police general Marcelo Garbo, the former Police Regional Office-Central Visayas director, and other police officials.
Loot has denied the allegations and no charges were filed against him. (KAL/VoxPop Philippines)
