AS THE San Miguel Beermen defeated Ginebra Gin Kings, 94-85, and secured a commanding 3-1 lead in Game 4 Friday evening, Davao City coaches believe that the Beermen will finish the best-of-seven finals series of the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup Sunday night.
The coaches said there will no longer be Game 6 as the Beermen, led by newly-crowned best player of the conference Jun Mar "The Kraken" Fajardo, will end the series in Game 5.
Holy Child College of Davao (Hccd) head coach Nestor "Tating" Sorrosa, said even though the Gin Kings have a great coach, they will face a tough challenge in containing Fajardo who is an "unpredictable" shooter.
Outside shooting will also be covered by Alex Cabagnot and Marcio Lassiter.
Assumption College of Davao (ACD) head coach Rolando "Rollie" Sancho, for his part, said: "Fajardo is the main man and he is the biggest problem of coach Tim Cone. Mahirap kasi pag-aralan si Fajardo, if i-double team siya, ipapasa niya sa labas kina Cabagnot or Lassiter, kung hindi naman, he can absolutely go hard to the basket," said Sancho who is a solid Ginebra fan.
Philippine Women's College (PWC) head coach Laurence "Butch" Bencio also said Fajardo dominates the paint and that the Beermen have healthy bench players who could step up whenever they're needed.
But Davao Jones Academy (DJA) head coach Rael Diaz thinks otherwise, adding that Ginebra will recover behind Cone's strategic game plans. He, however, thinks that SMB will win the title in Game 6.
