Davao City Council approves budget for workers' bonus

THE 18th Davao City Council approved Tuesday, March 14, the Supplemental Budget 1 worth P428,171,523 which includes incentives for plantilla workers and year-end gratuity pay contract of service and job orders.

The City Council approved on suspended rules the release of worth P63,550,000 for the collective negotiation agreement (CNA) incentive of 2,542 plantilla employees of the city hall.

According to Davao City Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, each employee will receive P25,000 each.

Approved also for distribution was P20,032,000 for the year end gratuity pay of 10,016 job orders and contract of service personnel of the city.

Each are entitled to receive P2,000 under the Administrative Order 2 series of 2017 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte last January.

“The appropriation is consistent to the requirements of the law will and an amendment was proposed that the department concerned should submit the list of names of employees who got the differential adjustment,” Dayanghirang said.

This CNA and the year-end gratuity pay will be sourced under Lumpsum Appropriations which got the second highest share of P91,411,641.44 out of the P385,924,681.56.

The rest of the Supplemental Budget 1 was allotted for the development fund which got P28,700,000 and economic enterprises with P13,546,842.14.

Dayanghirang said it is the directive of City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to release the incentive to the employees before Araw ng Dabaw.

“The mayor can sign it anytime. I was made to understand that the mayor wants to release it prior to Araw ng Dabaw, kasi mataas taas ang bakasyon (due to long vacation time) and the Davao City Hall Employees Association wrote us the letter for the item to be approved today so we approved it,” Dayanghirang said.
