THE audience roared in cheers as the Davao City Government department heads and staff showcased their talents in their Christmas presentation for the Dabawenyos at Quezon Park in front of the Davao City Hall Monday morning, December 19.

After the flag ceremony, government officials kicked off the program hosted by the City Sports Development Division officer-in-charge and the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac) co-chair Michael Aportadera, who also sang and danced.

Government officials and staff, wearing groovy costumes, took the floor and showed off their moves with music from the 1970s to the new millennium.

Performing a jazz number were City administrator Zuleika Lopez, City Social Services and Development Office head Ma. Luisa Bermudo, City Health Office head Dr. Josephine Villafuerte and City Tourism Office head Gene Rose Tecson, among the other department heads.

Lopez, in an interview after the program, said the presentation was their way to thank the constituents of Davao City and the government employees who did good work all throughout the past years.

"It is our simple offering for them. I hope they were entertained. Simple lang naman ang diwa ng pasko (The thought of Christmas is simple), we thank the people who supported the city, we thank the employees, for the families and love ones we have, for a wonderful year and for all the success that the city has attained, and for the coming years," Lopez said.

City Planning and Development head Ivan Cortez, City Engineer's head Joseph Felizarta, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio's chief of staff Raul Nadela Jr. and Human Resource Management Office head Erwin Alparaque also hit the dance floor.

Aportadera, Cortez and Engineer Jaime Adalin of the City Assessor's Office, rendered Christmas songs.

The crowd roared to Maro-on 5 rendering songs by the Maroon 5 while the five Mutya ng Dabaw sashayed onstage.

Maro-on 5 were composed of assistant city administrator Tristan Dwight Domingo as the lead vocalist, assistant city administrator for operations head Lawrence Bantiding at the bass, Osmundo Villanueva of the City Legal Office as the lead guitarist, Central 911 head Emmanuel Jaldon as the keyboardist, and Public Safety Security Command Center head retired General Benito de Leon on the drums.

The program ended with all the Davao City Government officials and staff singing Christmas songs.
