DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said the incoming big ticket infrastructure projects in the city will have little impact to the traffic.
Incoming big ticket projects that will be coming to Davao City are the Mindanao Railway System and the bypass road that will connect Toril, Davao City and Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
"We do not expect a big impact on the traffic because all of it is the same like the Mindanao Rail, there will be stations in Mudiang, Magtuod, there is a proposed station in Calinan or Toril so it will all traverse in the [peripheral parts] of Davao. The bypass road will also traverse Davao and will connect Davao Del Norte and Davao del Sur, so it will pass areas in the north," she added.
Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio said that the City Government does not provide terms for the project but they make sure that the agencies will sit on the same platform.
"Sa City Government we make sure that everybody sits on the same platform. With regard to the Mindanao Railway System, the meeting with DOTr (Department of Transportation) done, but the meeting with Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) [is not yet done] since there is a bypass road, which is also a passageway of MRS. There is a need for the city to sit down with the Department of Transportation, DPWH. and National Economic Development Authority (Neda) for this MRS but initially since in our meeting with DOTR there is no problem. The budget of the whole project will come from the DOTR," she added.
She said that budget for the road right of way acquisition is already prepared.
She said the road right of way budget allocation for the private owners will be shouldered by the city.
Duterte-Carpio said that there is still no report from the DPWH how many private lands will be affected, where these are, and whom do these belong.
