THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) mapped out a security plan at Wireless Cemetery if President Rodrigo Duterte will visit his parents’ graves, adding that the law enforcers are all set to ensure the peaceful observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day on November 1 and 2, respectively.
DCPO spokesperson Senior Inspector Catherine Dela Rey bared that they have beefed up their security measures and mobilized their security forces to ensure the peace and order of cemeteries in the city.
Dela Rey added that if the President’s visit will push through, they can immediately respond to his security needs as they have already crafted a security plan.
“Yes, we have prepared a security plan when President Duterte visits his departed parents at the cemetery,” Dela Rey said.
But she said that if the Presidential Security Guard (PSG) will demand for additional forces or measures to ensure his safety, DCPO is willing to oblige.
She, however, said that they have yet to know the schedule of the president's visit but maintained that they are on heightened alert.
She also said that maximum deployment of security personnel at Wireless Cemetery will regulate the influx of people visiting their departed loved ones.
A total of 2,600 police and force multipliers from DCPO and Task Force Davao will be deployed in major cemeteries starting Monday, October 31.
“We will deploy more personnel in large cemeteries like the Davao Memorial Park and Maa Public Cemetery to help in attending the needs of the public,” Dela Rey said.
The police officer again reminded the public not to bring banned items such as bladed, sharp objects, flammable materials, and firearms. DCPO also prohibit smoking, drinking liquor, playing loud music or noise and gambling inside cemeteries.
She also appealed to the public to be vigilant and report any untoward incident to the police.
