OVER 2,000 children benefited from Pasko Pahalipay para sa Kabatan-onan organized by the Davao City Government at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center Thursday, December 8.

City Social Services and Development Office Head Ma. Luisa Bermudo, in an interview, said there were 2,275 children from 182 villages in the city who attended the party organized for them.

Bermudo said the office organized a simple party for children with parlor games, storytelling and puppet show. She added they also gave food and gifts as each child received gift certificate.

“These children are community-based and the activity we had for them is part of the Pasko Fiesta, because our mayor (Sara Duterte-Carpio) would really want to see these children happy,” Bermudo said.

Duterte-Carpio earlier instructed the City Government offices to design Pasko Fiesta as a simple celebration yet festive and well-lighted. She also urged the public to join the celebration.

Bermudo said there will be more Pasko Fiesta events to benefit grandparents, persons with disability, people living with aids and LGBTs (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender).
