THE Davao City Council has agreed to have a thorough review of the 16-year-old memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the city and the Southern Philippines Medical Center to amend some of its provision on who can avail.
On Tuesday's regular session at the City Hall, the city's chair on committee of health Councilor Mary Joselle Villafuerte proposed to revisit the MOA relative to the Medical and Hospitalization Program (Lingap Para sa Mahirap) for qualified and poor residents of Davao City.
The council will look up on alleged fake documents passed by applicants to avail of the hospital's free charge.
"We don't want this program to waste our money in fake prescriptions or fake orders of laboratory," Villafuerte said.
The councilor bared this after receiving reports of patients buying approval letters from the City Mayor's Office.
"There are those who sell the guarantee letters," she said.
The council hoped to assist the City Mayor's Office as well as that of the Lingap's so the program can continue to provide its services to those who needed it.
