THE Davao Durians Rugby Football Club (DDRFC) defended its title at the close of the 14th FatBoy 10s Rugby Tournament at the Clark Airbase in Angeles City, Pampanga over the weekend.
DDRFC mounted a formidable 21-7 victory over Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC) Expendables in the Shield Division championship round following a 19-0 romp against Pot Bellied Pigs in the semifinals of the event that attracted international and national teams.
Last year, DDRFC won the title over hapless Kowloon Baba Piggies, 5-0, and dedicated the victory to the victims of the Roxas night market bombing incident that happened the same month.
The team was composed of playing coach Hilton Soberano, team captain LeAllen Lara, Daryl Ross Lomosbog, Anthony Ronquillo, James Mark Sarona, Uldarico Bande Jr., Alexander Dalhog, Jan-Lawrence Olaco, Greg Doringo, Ronnel Marko Nabor, Ruel John Halasan, Raphael Carlo Mancha, Bernard Batulan and Chicco Ricamora with player-manager Rex Louie Pilongo.
The Durians, meanwhile, thanked Pot Bellied Pigs Rugby Football Club Hongkong, SOS Children's Village Davao, Mindanao Rugby Football Devt Inc., Tsunami Sports and the Davao City Government.
