THE Davao City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) noted normal flow of traffic on Tuesday, October 17, following the non-participation of transport groups on the second day of declared nationwide transport strike.
CTTMO head Dionisio Abude in an interview with VoxPop Davao on Tuesday said that they did not note any stranded passengers on the streets on Tuesday.
"Normal naman ang kalsada (The traffic was normal)," he said.
Abude added though that a traffic problem was noted early in the morning at Diversion Road where a truck, which lost its break and hit the landslide pile along the road.
Abude said the situation was addressed immediately hours after and they have contacted the owner of the vehicle.
He said currently they allow light vehicles and big trucks to pass in the area at the part of Diversion Road side of Matina Pangi and Shrine from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. No road works are happening during these times. However, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the construction works being conducted by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) resumes.
"We are closely coordinating with the DPWH, on any advise especially when it rains," he said.
Abude said that he is hopeful that the DPWH will not ask for another road closure like the agency requested last Friday October 13, wherein the road was closed again due to the danger of boulders falling.
"Sudden road closures are hard not only for traffic enforcers but also for the motorists, I hope that it will not happen again," he said.
Abude added that he expects that the DPWH have already placed mitigating solutions on the area to avoid the same concern during rainy days.
