THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao slammed militant organizations after they paraded through the streets the mock coffins of alleged human rights victims, underscoring that these are government detractors and were killed in an attempt to sow atrocities.
Police chief superintendent Manuel Gaerlan, PRO-Davao regional director, lambasted several cause-oriented groups for what he called their "propaganda stunt."
"While we condole with the families of the NPA terrorists who died in encounters with true soldiers of the Filipino People (AFP), they are not human rights victims as alleged by the communist propagandists. Those people died in their attempt to overthrow our government, attack government forces and embarrass President Rodrigo Roa Duterte," Gaerlan said.
He also called their moves as, "Style nila bulok! Puro cinematics."
On Monday, July 24, thousands of militants gathered at Magsaysay Park and marched through the Freedom Park along Roxas Avenue to coincide with President's second State of the Nation Address (Sona).
The groups include Bagong Alyansang Bayan (Bayan), Gabriela, Anakpawis, Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), Karapatan, Kabataan, Kadamay and among others.
The protesters decried the alleged human rights violations perpetrated by the government troops in the course of Martial Law and urged the Duterte administration to lift it.
