THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao targets to have a zero backlog cases for this year after saying they have 86 administrative cases filed against the Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel in the region this year.
PRO-Davao Deputy Regional Director Superintendent Marcelo Morales said they have processed 86 different administrative cases that range from serious to simple offenses.
Of this figure, they have already resolved 81 cases and still have remaining five cases that need to undergo administrative procedures before a resolution will be made.
The grave offenses are for involvement in illegal drugs. These are the cops who were tested positive during the conduct of drug test and absent without official leave, while the light offenses include failure to attend formations or regular ceremony in the regional office.
For this year, they expect to solve the remaining five cases to hit their target of a zero backlog cases before January 31, 2017.
Mendoza said that majority of the punishment of resolved cases includes dismissal from the service and suspension ranging from a maximum of 180 days to 3 days.
Mendoza added the cases against policemen in Davao are comparatively fewer than those in other regions, especially in the capital region.
“When I was there, we were attending to more than 3,000 administrative cases in NCRPO alone. In other regions, mas mataas pa. Dito sa Davao parang mababa yong number ng administrative cases filed against PNP personnel (It's even higher. Here in Davao, administrative cases filed against PNP personnel are lower),” Mendoza said.
