WITH a huge number of crowd expected to attend the series of events prepared by the Davao City Government, the Davao City Police Office has also crafted their countermeasures to prevent pickpocketing, snatching, and other petty crimes amid the festivity.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum said they will deploy thousands of law enforcers to man the activities as well as the individuals present.
Tagum said they have increased their police visibility to discourage criminals from taking advantage of the celebration.
They will also dispatch undercover cops to penetrate the crowd.
"We have covert operatives who will be eye balling up close the crowd, plus we'll have Swat who will be scanning the revelers and Intelligence Analysts in the PSSCC Command Center monitoring room to scan the crowd on possible wolves in the midst of the sheeps. We'll be the sheep dogs that will closely watch over our flock," Tagum said.
It was previously reported that more security personnel will be dispatched on August 19 for the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan with a total of 6,030 police and other personnel from different law enforcement agencies.
For August 20, which is the Pamulak sa Kadayawan, a total of 5,730 police and other personnel from different law enforcement agencies will be deployed.
DCPO, the lead agency in the security coverage of Kadayawan, is in close coordination with the Task Force Davao, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, City Transport and Traffic Management Office, Central 911, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and other agencies.
Authorities reminded the public to be vigilant in their surroundings if attending the events packed with crowd and be cautious of their personal belongings.
