WHILE the alarming cases of Zika virus continue to rise, the Department of Health (DOH) assured Dabawenyos there is no Zika case recorded in the region yet.
Health assistant secretary Abdullah Dumama Jr. assured the public Thursday, September 29, that the health department is doing its best effort to prevent the spread of Zika virus.
“None so far,” Dumama said when asked if they have received reports of people who was confined with symptoms of the locally-transmitted virus.
Dumama said the agency is intensifying their information education campaign to properly educate the public about the possible implication of Zika virus and as well as prevention measures.
“Active case finding and intensified information dissemination is what we are doing now,” Dumama said.
DOH on Monday announced they have recorded at least 12 cases of Zika virus cases for this year in the country.
Amid the recent incident where a fire razed down the building of DOH along Jose P. Laurel Avenue in Davao City last Friday, Dumama said their office will continue its regular operation. (JCR)
