THE Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) will be having four new separate divisions to fully implement traffic rules and regulations and to efficiently respond to traffic issues.
CTTMO Chief Dionesio Abude, in an interview, said this new organization is in response to the requirement presented under city ordinance 0334-12 or the Comprehensive Transport and Traffic Code of Davao City, requiring to create an organized system for the traffic management in the city.
"This new system will make our traffic management easier as each division will be given specific tasks and responsibilities," Abude said.
Abude also said that they already sent a letter of request to the City mayor's office on a building expansion for the four new divisions in CTTMO.
"We will be also having 40 job vacancies through the City Human Resource Management Office once the resolution will be approved," Abude said.
He added they will be maximizing the office by converting the conference rooms and other spare rooms into division offices while waiting for the extension construction.
The four new divisions, Abude said, will be composed of the Traffic Planning and Management Division, in charge of collecting traffic data and statistics to be used for policy making; Traffic Engineering and Facilities Management Division responsible in formulating traffic engineering schemes and initiating moves for full integration into the road network; Traffic Enforcement and Street Management Division for executing the enforcement component of any traffic scheme devised, and; Motorized Vehicle Franchising and Regulatory Division for conducting public information campaigns.
Abude said the new organizational system needs P10 million budget, but they still have to submit the proposal to the City Council within this month.
At present, CTTMO only has three main offices, which are the Administrative Department, Supply Officer Department, and the Assistant Technical Department.
