WITH the rise of social media, it does not really matter what your gender preference is. It does not matter if you're 25, 30, 40, 50 or 60 years old. It does not matter if you're Liza Soberano or Sharon Cuneta's fan.
In reality, start-up is not only young man's game or an old man's sport. As they say, if you are good enough to have a victory, the market would respect and celebrate your victory.
A lot of companies, whether start-ups or big players, forget the idea of being prevalent and ubiquitous. Are you visible any time and everywhere? Because the moment people type your brand in the search bar and you don't appear appealing, automatically, you're not credible as the next one.
Next is, are your products or place "instabrag" or instagramable? If yes, automatically, people will be you're brand ambassadors because everyone just loves to take photos, selfies and stuff.
Yes! In a certain degree millennials are vain, but this vanity can be transformed into something positive as far as advertising is concerned. How? Through brand engagements. Every click, view and share adds value to your brand.
The sad part is, a lot of people are focusing on the negative implications of social media when in fact it can be everyone's free ticket to enter the game. It's the idea that you don't have to spend thousands or millions to pop an ad on the 6 p.m news.
Another sad thing is that we are often too scared to even try because of age.
But life happens. Things change. And maybe more significantly, so many of our older counterparts have the right DNA to build something great, but they just weren’t lucky enough to be born during an era in which that lifestyle seemed practical, while "kids" at my age are being talked out of it.
But as they say, avoid making excuses. The market does not care how old you are if you dominate, if you show that you have what it takes.
And the best part? Yes, technology.
That phone, the apps in it, the power of social media, changed everything. And it can change things for you too. Use it to create something for yourself. Please.
