Defense secretary to lead Davao flag raising ceremony

DEFENSE Secretary Delfin Lorenza will lead Monday's flag raising ceremony and flower offering at the Rizal Park, Davao City in line with the 119th Philippine Independence Day celebration.

Lorenza was chosen to be the guest of honor and speaker for the event which will be graced by the representatives of the City Government, diplomatic corps and different national agencies.

The flag raising ceremony will start at 7 a.m. The prayer will be led by Archbishop of Davao, Reverie Bishop Romulo Valles while Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will give the opening remarks.

Guest of honor include the different groups such as the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Department of Education, Order of the Knights of Rizal, Veterans Federation of the Philippines, The Sons and Daughters Association Inc., Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines, Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Assemblies, Davao Historical Society Foundation, Inc., Boy and Girl Scouts of the Philippines.

A joint singing of the "Tayo'y Dabawenyo" and "Pilipinas Kong Mahal," which will be played by the Philippine National Police 11 Band. (KVC)
