CEBU City offers a free medical aid program through the City Hospitalization Assistance and Medicines Program (Champ) to all resident voters of the city and their dependents. The program covers laboratory, medicine and hospitalization needs of the Cebu City residents.
Based on Executive Order 2 issued by Mayor Tomas Osmeña, the program was expanded to include, among others, the scheduled delivery of maintenance medicines for hypertension, diabetes and arthritis, among others, prescribed by a government physician for outpatients or by the attending physician for admitted patients. Champ will also give Philhealth insurance to indigent residents.
In order to avail of the medical and hospital benefit under Champ, the following are required: filled-up application form, voter’s certificate from the Comelec, barangay clearance, medical abstract, hospital bill and/or receipts. Evaluation will be conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Services.
When deemed to be qualified, one can avail of P25,000 for hospitalization, P5,000 for medicines and P5,000 for laboratory procedures for every year.
