PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald Dela Rosa ordered on Thursday the prepositioning of police search and rescue teams and equipment in calamity-prone areas due to the heavy downpour caused by Tropical Storm "Gorio."
PNP spokesperson Dionardo Carlos said Dela Rosa also ordered his men to make themselves available and alert in providing assistance to their areas of jurisdiction’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee.
As of 10 a.m. Thursday, Pagasa said Gorio was spotted 615 kilometer (km) east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, packed with maximum winds of 85 kilometer per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 105 kph.
It was forecasted to move north-northeast at 9 kph and leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, the heavy rainfall brought by Tropical Storm Gorio has caused flooding in several areas in the Metro Manila. (VoxPop Philippines)
