PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald Dela Rosa on Monday urged Vice President Leni Robredo to present to him the cops involved in the alleged “palit-ulo” scheme so he can "beat them up" in front of her.
“Yung palit-ulo na version na sinasabi ng Vice President dine-deny ko ‘yan. Kung meron mang kaso na ganyan, I have yet to receive a complaint about that,” he said.
On March 13, Robredo in a video said relatives of alleged drug personalities are being arrested to force the real suspects to surface in exchange for their release.
The video was played at the “Human Rights Challenge: Responding to Extrajudicial Killings in the Drug War,” which was organized by DRCNet Foundation for the 60th United Nation Commission on Narcotic Drugs annual meeting.
Robredo said based on accounts of victims, mostly from poor families in the communities who experience the administration’s war on drugs, policemen are also using minors for the arrest of “bigger fish” who are involved in the illegal drug activities.
In his defense, the PNP Chief reiterated that such scheme is not being practiced in the organization, particularly in the conduct of anti-illegal drug operations.
“Iharap niyo sa akin ‘yang pulis na ‘yan, susuntukin ko sa mukha sa harapan mo (Robredo). Bubugbugin ko sa harap mo ‘yan, iharap mo sa akin. Hindi ko pababayaan ‘yang klaseng gawain na ‘yan kung ginagawa talaga ‘yan,” he Dela Rosa said.
The PNP urged Robredo to provide more information on the scheme so the can conduct an investigation on it. (VoxPop Philippines)
