THE rise of real estate developments in Davao City is a game-changer in the landscape of Dabawenyo lifestyle and this also brings a demand for interior design materials necessary to make a residential space and home a comfortable place to live in.
Han Design, which has been in Davao City for almost four years now, is importing wallpapers, carpets, windows blinds, modern blinds, home designs straight from Korea.
Managing director of Han Design Liz Kim said that they made it to the point that their products will be accessible in the city.
“Sa wall papers we have rolls talaga available in Davao. We have on hand stocks in all five branches of Han Design, kung nagmamadali ka and you really wanted your room na makabitan ng wallpaper, all you need to do is pumili ng designs and available talaga, nandito na,” Kim said.
She added that when they started the business, they just cater 20 to 30 houses per month, but with the rise of developments, she said it is now tripled.
Kim added that they really have to order in bulk from Korea to meet the fast-paced turnover of condominium units and houses in subdivisions.
“We ship in interior materials na kailangan natin, kasi ang bilis bilis ngayon ng turn-over ng mga condo units and we wanted to make sure that we are able to supply them and that we will be able to catch up with the demand of our consumer, the condo unit owners, and also [homeowners] of the subdivision, villages,” she said.
She said that they ask for the in demand designs or style for wallpaper and window blinds from architects, engineers, interior designers so they will have a guide on what to have be delivered in bulk.
She added that in condo units, the white window blinds are very in demand.
“They do not want colored, white talaga na makita sa labas ng building. What we do is we have two or three rolls of window blinds and window shades so that the order will be easily delivered,” Kim said.
She said that they have the factory here in Davao where they assemble the materials for the binds, as it the sizes depend on the order of their clients.
“As soon as we get the dimension and measurements, and the costumer says ok, we will assemble the materials. We do not need to produce because we import the rolyo and the mechanisms, yung mga strings and rollers,” she added.
Kim said that all the branches of Han Designs in Davao, Cotabato, Gensan, Tagum, and Cebu have showrooms where clients can select their design of choice.
She added that they have tied up with realtor or developer in Davao, but most of their clients are walk-ins since every time there is a turn over, the house is empty and not yet furnished.
Kim added that they just had installed some of their products from their clients from Seda, and also from Camella.
She said that she making sure to attend every exhibit in Korea for the latest updates on window blinds and wallpaper designs. She said that she is looking for another area where they can transfer their showroom, possibly near SM Lanang.
Han Designs’s current showroom is now located in front of Trust Hardware, Buhangin Davao City.
Aside from interior design materials being available in the market for real estate, some malls in the city capture the market from real estate by providing bedroom arrangements fit for condominium units. (KVC)
