A MONTH before the target completion of the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project, Apo Agua Infrastractura, Incorporated (AAII) is still processing permits after its application was suspended last year.
AAII general manager Cirilo Almario III said the company is still complying with the requirements for the Environmental Compliance Certificate with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Certification for Eligibility to convert from the Department of Agriculture (DA), and the land conversion permit from agricultural land to industrial land from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
Last year, AAII's application of permit to convert was suspended by DAR after DA streamlined the applications and procedures that started August.
On March 17, 2016, the Davao City Water District (DCWD) signed an agreement with AAII, a joint group by Aboitiz Equity Ventures and JV Angeles Construction Corporation.
It is a P10-billion project previously planned to tap potable water from Tamugan River in Marilog wherein Apo Agua will build the water transmission pipelines and infiltration gallery while DCWD is in charge of the construction of the water reservoirs.
The project is to address the increasing demand for potable water, which had already gone up to 96 million cubic meters and growing.
Almario said the project has a capacity of supplying 300 million liters per day.
