A MEMORANDUM for the retention of the Negros Island Region (NIR) was already submitted to the Office of the President on Tuesday, April 25, an official of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said.
DILG Undersecretary Jesus Hinlo Jr. said he submitted the memorandum in compliance with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte during their meeting last March 2.
The memo was received Ermila Moking of the Office of the President, Hinlo said.
It’s already up to the President, he added.
Before submitting the document, Hinlo said he presented the memorandum to Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. last Saturday.
“My memorandum which is outside my position with the DILG is based on the data from the office of Governor Maranon and I will attach position papers in support of the NIR retention,” Hinlo said.
He added that he sees the chances of the NIR being retained after the President required him to submit a memorandum.
