Dino to check regional execs' compliance with Sona order

TWO months after assuming office, Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino is scheduled to meet today all regional directors of national agencies in Central Visayas to find out what they have done on the call of the President to reduce red tape in government and the fight against corruption.

Dino said he wants to get updates directly from the regional directors since President Rodrigo Duterte ordered to shorten the processing time in all government transactions and to avoid corruption during his State of the Nation Address last July.

“We want to know how they have been doing with the directive that the President made because that was very specific, our office wants to know also,” he told reporters.

The meeting with members of the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies 7 will be held at the PRO 7 Headquarters, Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr. on Osmeña Blvd., Cebu City.

It will be the first time that Dino will meet with them after he started as the President’s assistant for the Visayas.

Dino said that he does not expect for the regional executives to have fully complied with the directive, but that it is important for the concerned agencies to have done something about it.

He said agencies, particularly those with direct transactions with the public, should fast-track processing time.

Dino said that it is important for these agencies to provide better services to their clients.

“It’s very important to have malasakit (care) because once we have malasakit and you see those people lining up you do something right away. You don’t need someone to order them, if there’s malasakit action should be automatic,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dino advised the Department of Public Works and Highways to be wary against any individual or group who will be using his name to transact with the agency.

“A lot of people will use my name. Let me know because they don’t have a go signal from me. I even warned my men not to use my name in any transaction because the President doesn’t want that (kind of) set-up,” he added.
