A DERMATOLOGIST from Cebu City was arrested Monday, April 10, inside a hotel in San Juan-Luzuriaga Street, Bacolod City for possession of illegal drugs.
Police withheld the identity of the 39-year-old suspect upon the request of his family. He is working as a resident dermatologist in a beauty salon at a shopping mall in the city.
Police Station 1 Head Eugene Tolentino said they received a call for assistance from the hotel staff after the suspect failed to leave his room for three days.
The management tried to reach the suspect’s family before the police decided to forcibly open the room he occupied.
His sister arrived, accompanied by four nurses from a rehabilitation institution in Cebu City.
The suspect was caught sniffing methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu inside his room around 11:40 a.m., Tolentino said.
Recovered were a sachet of shabu, an improvised tooter, and a lighter.
The suspect is detained at the station. He will face charges for violation of Sections 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) and 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
