THE Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the Cordillera Administrative Region is ready for their annual Science and Technology (S&T) celebration slated on October 10 to 14 in Tabuk City in Kalinga.
rDOST Regional Director Dr. Victor Mariano said for this year’s celebration will comprise of forums and exhibits from co-operators, line agencies, as well as an information and education campaign program.
New features of the week- long celebration include the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration [PAG-ASA] Planetarium showcasing a hands on experience for the participants.
A disaster summit is also set to encourage school children to actively participate in Disaster Risk Reduction Management.
The celebration kicks off with a motorcade on October 10 followed by ceremonial ribbon-cutting and opening ceremonies of the S&T fair.
Followed by a presentation of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the DOST on food technologies featuring stabilized brown rice, iron-fortified rice and complementary food technologies.
The DOST Metals Industry Research and Development Center will set up a superheated steam treatment technology to improve the brown rice quality.
On October 12 different forums are slated on safe food additives, emergency food reserve technologies and food safety, cacao processing, coffee and cacao organic production and post-harvest technologies.
A S&T Quiz Bee is set for elementary and secondary schools in the region as well as development f early warning system and drill.
