DOTr lines up P159.46-M projects for Zambo port

THE Department of Transportation (DOTr), through the Philippines Ports Authority (PPA), is set to implement P159.46 million projects at the Zamboanga port this year.

The projects will include the following: reclamation at the Paniran Area, P58.67 million; rehabilitation of ferry terminal, P20 million; construction of QMS storage facility, P6.63 million; construction of QMS-VEC transaction building, P40.39 million; construction of ticketing booth, P19.30 million; construction of steel matting fence at the gate, P4.09 million; and, construction of open passenger shed and walkway canopy, P10.38 million.

First District Representative Celso Lobregat, House Committee on Appropriations vice chairman, said the completion of the projects will further improve the services at the local port.

Aside from the lined up projects, Lobregat said there is an ongoing P480.69 million project at the local wharf.

He said the construction of Wharf for Rail Mounted Gantry Crane has started on June 21, 2016 and is set to be completed in February 2018.

Lobregat said he will pursue the development and expansion of the local wharf.

The local port serves as the gateway to Malaysia as well as the provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and other key cities of the region and of the country.(VoxPop Philippines)
