THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has asked the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) for the total closure of Magsaysay-Araneta Streets to install the steel beams of the flyover for two weeks starting August 7.
Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya on Friday, July 28, said the contractor of the flyover informed him on Thursday of the scheduled installation works.
Gasataya said the contractor sent a request to BTAO for the total road closure from August 7 to 21, from 3 p.m. to 5 a.m.
“They want to prevent accidents because the steel beams are heavy and big. After the installation of the beams, the road will be passable again,” he said.
Based on the contract, the flyover will be completed by November.
Gasataya said the BTAO should conduct a study on how to reroute the vehicles in the area.
Meanwhile, Gasataya said he will deliver his first State of the District Address (Soda) at the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel on Sunday, July 30.
He said that his report for the people of Bacolod will include what he had done for the past 365 days.
“This will be a simple program. This is just a very personal approach of reporting to the people of what had transpired,” he said.
Gasataya said he will discuss the legislations that he had filed, and programs and projects implemented in Bacolod.
His report will focus on the status of the big projects funded by the national government, and what will happen in 2018 in terms of the proposed budget from the national government.
Expected to attend are Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, City Council members, business leaders, and barangay officials.
