BACOLOD City District Engineer Abraham Villareal said Thursday he will ask the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Central Office to send engineers to inspect the structural stability of the Araneta-Magsaysay flyover.
Councilor Ricardo Tan had earlier urged the DPWH, City Engineer's Office and the Office of Congressman Greg Gasataya to conduct an inspection, re-assessment, and evaluation of the structure which allegedly becomes unstable when a certain number of vehicles pass through it.
“We will relate this observation to the DPWH Central Office since they are the implementing office of this structure so that they can send their engineer inspectors to verify the matter,” Villareal said.
He said personnel from his office already inspected the flyover and they did not see any problem in the structure, but it would be better if the DPWH Central Office will inspect the structure instead.
The DPWH will also send a team to observe the traffic situation at the flyover, he added.
Gasataya said he also sent a communication to the DPWH Central Office asking to send their inspection team to check the condition of Araneta-Magsaysay flyover.
“We want to ensure the safety of our commuters who are passing at flyover,” he added.
