PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald Dela Rosa said Wednesday that several personalities tagged by self-confessed drug lord Franz Sabalones in his illegal drugs operations were connected to retired Police Director Marcelo Garbo.
"Mga bata n'ya 'yun, mga tauhan n'ya... closely associated (with) him," he said.
"Iniimbestigahan na ng IAS (Internal Affairs Service) at CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group). Meron pa tayong pinagtatanggal na hindi pa agad natanggal. 'Yung testimonial evidence ni Sabalones is enough to pin them down," he added.
Garbo was among the police generals identified earlier by President Rodrigo Duterte as involved in the illegal drug trade in the country.
Sabalones, an alleged drug lord in the Central Visayas, turned himself to the PNP after his brother, San Fernando, Cebu Vice Mayor Fralz Sabalones was named in the drug watchlist of Duterte.
PNP-CIDG director Roel Obusan said Sabalones provided "vital" information that could end the illegal drugs trade in his area after he tagged several police officials and personnel. (Sunnex)
