ONE person was wounded while two others escaped unscathed after being shot by a drunk policeman Wednesday, March 22, in Zamboanga del Norte.
Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula Information Officer Rogelio Alabata said the incident took place around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday in the village of Dicayas, Dipolog City.
Alabata identified the victim as Junrey Guithce, 34, a resident of Bonifacio Street in the village of Estaka, Dipolog City.
Unscathed were Glen Tubungbanua and Arnold Aniñon.
Alabata said Guithce and his two companions were having a drinking spree at the sari-sari store of Cerilio Banagua when Police Officer 3 Herminio Montilla, believed to be drunk, arrived.
He said Montilla admonished the three because their vehicle was parked at the intersection of the road and left the group. Montilla returned minutes later and shot Guithce on his right leg.
Alabata said Montilla surrendered to the police in Dipolog City while Guithce was rushed to the hospital for treatment. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
