ANOTHER case is set to be filed against the drunk truck driver who mowed seven people down, including three children, in Cagayan de Oro City on April 9.
Killed in the April 9 incident were Ronnie Abrio, 46, and his children Kenneth Abrio, 10; Sophia Abrio, 5; and Stephanie Abrio, 7; Mae Bonior, 17; Vanessa Tadlas, 29; and Vevine Nacaya, 23.
On Wednesday, April 19, the Abrio family will file a lawsuit against the 30-year-old truck driver Freddie Talisayan.
The prosecutor’s office resolved on April 11 the complaint filed by Ma. Pimentel Tadlas, the mother of Vanessa, who was among the fatalities.
Talisayan will face the court for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, though he was allowed to post a P24,000 bail.
But Chief Inspector Evan Viñas of Police Station 10 in Cugman said that with more charges coming out, it would be difficult for Talisayan to make an easy way out from his detention cell.
“Gamay ra ang P24,000 (P24,000 is just a small price to pay) but with additional charges coming out, modako pud ang pyansa, maglisod na ang suspect pag bail (the amount will increase and the suspect will have a hard time paying for his bail),” Viñas said.
“Kung ma-rule out sa fiscal nga reckless imprudence resulting [in] homicide, maka-bail gihapon siya, pero lisod na kay kang Nacaya nga kaso premeditated na and succeeding na ang action nga naay criminal intent (The suspect can still post bail if his case is reckless imprudence resulting in homicide but it will be hard for him since the Nacaya family filed a case of premeditated and the succeeding action has criminal intent),” he added.
The Abrios were laid to rest Monday at the Cagayan de Oro City Public Cemetery in Bolonsiri, Barangay Camaman-an.
