THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Negros Occidental is working on strengthening the export traffic of local products to the United States.
Romel Amihan, senior trade and industry development specialist of DTI-Negros Occidental, said they are holding a seminar on “Doing Business in the US for Fast-Moving Consumer Goods” at the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City on November 8.
Amihan said the activity, in partnership with the Export Marketing Bureau (EMB), is aimed at equipping local entrepreneurs from the food sector, particularly exporters, with knowledge on policies, guidelines as well as trends and developments in doing export with the US.
“Several producers in the province are already exporting products to US, and opportunities for growth are still huge,” he added.
Negros Occidental has potential export products for US particularly in various sectors like food, gift, decor and house ware, garments, and health and wellness sector, including organic products.
Nick Johnson, president and chief executive officer of Asia Etc., a marketing company specializing in the US mainstream market, will serve as keynote speaker during the seminar.
Representatives from EMB will discuss the Philippine-US bilateral trade and the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) of America.
Other activities include business matching and consultations.
The activity is free but limited to only 80 entrepreneurs.
