ESTABLISHMENTS and supermarkets in the region are advised by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Davao to follow suggested retail prices (SRP) of Noche Buena items according to the list provided by DTI Central Office.
In an interview with DTI Davao Regional Director Belinda Ambi, she said they can charge profiteering to establishments and supermarkets that are caught going beyond the SRPs.
“We will issue show cause order for the establishment to show why such price is higher and determine is the cause is reasonable,” Ambi said, adding DTI inspects without prior notice and advised the establishments to just always be ready.
On their official website, DTI posted SRP for Noche Buena items including ham, fruit cocktail, cheese, sandwich spread, mayonnaise, keso de bola, pasta/spaghetti, elbow and salad macaroni, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and cream.
Prices for 500g hams range from P135 to P139 depending on the brand. Much heavier hams that weigh from 700g to 1kg are priced at P190 to P525, depending on the brand and the size. There are also hams available at the market that weigh from 2kg to 5kg and these are priced from P588/kg to P845.75/kg depending on the brand.
The smallest fruit cocktails, which are 432g in sizes, have prices ranging from P45.75 to P52.30. Those that weigh 822g to 836g are priced from P64.75 to P70.40 while bigger fruit cocktails, those that exceed 3kg, are available from P174.10 to P204.00
Cheeses that are 200g and smaller are priced between P42.10 to P76.00. This includes the easy-melting cheeses which are more expensive than the regular ones. Cheeses weighing 440g to 500g are available at P105.10 to P177, depending on the brand. Much heavier cheeses, weighing 1kg to 2kg, are priced between P210.10 to P588.50.
Small sandwich spread pouches are available at P18 to P30. Stand-up pouches are priced between P36 to P60.25. Bottled sandwich spreads, with sizes ranging from 220ml to 470ml are available from P57 to P196 depending on the flavor, brand, and size.
Mayonnaise that are 220ml and smaller are priced between P27 to P85.75, depending on whether they are in pouches or bottles, and as well as the brand. Mayonnaise that are 470ml are priced between P87.50 to P170. Mayo at 700ml are available from P145 to P245.
Keso de Bolas are usually available in three sizes – 350g, 500g, and 750g. The 350g sizes are available from P149.60 to P305. The 500g keso de bolas are priced at P247.50 to P391. Bigger-sized keso de bolas are available from P385.55 to P445.
For pasta/spaghetti, those that are smaller than 500g have prices from P20.20 to P52.50. Spaghetti pastas weighing 500g are available from P49.15 to P73. Those that weigh 900g to 1k are sold from P59 to P88, depending on the brand.
Elbow and Salad macaronis that weigh less than 500g are priced from P15.25 to P52.50. The 500g macaronis are sold from P49.90 to P73. Macaronis that weigh 1kg are available from P68.25 to P93.45.
Spaghetti sauce that weigh 250g are priced at P18.70 to P27.05. Those that weigh 500g to 750g are sold at P42 to P62, while 1k spaghetti sauce are now sold at P58 to P81.65.
Tomato Sauce that weighs less than 250g are at P11.90 to P18. Tomato sauce that weighs 250g are available at P17.25 to P20.60, while 1kg tomato sauce are priced at P60.80 to P74.45.
Creams can be bought at P41.65 to P67.50.
