THE orientation of participants in the upcoming 2017 Philippine Series was held in Dumaguete City in time for the culmination of softball competition in the ongoing 2017 Palarong NIR at the Rusi Ballfiled.
To be staged on April 4-12 in the City of Gentle People, the event will be one of the biggest sporting events to be staged in the Negros Oriental's capital after the DepEd's regional athletic meet.
The Philippine Series will feature young batters in the little league, junior league, and senior league baseball, and little league, junior league, and senior league softball.
This national tournament is part of Mayor Felipe Remollo's dream to make Dumaguete City the next sport-tourism destination in the country.
Top teams expected to see action in this series are those from Bacolod, Negros Occidental, Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Iloilo, Bulacan, Cebu, Batangas, Rizal, Marikina, and National Capital Region.
The organizer has declared that mandatory participation in the little league baseball has been waived.
Participants taking part, however, must pay their annual registration fee of P15,000. (HGD)
