SEVERAL officials of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) were allegedly involved in the kidnap-slay of South Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo, said Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald Dela Rosa quoting Police Superintendent Raphael Dumlao.
"Kung pagbabasehan natin ang kanyang (Dumlao) testimony, may matataas pa na opisyal ng NBI [na involved]," he said.
Jee was abducted from his house in Friendship Plaza village in Angeles City, Pampanga, on October 18 by suspects who introduced themselves as members of the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Group.
From Pampanga, Jee was brought in Camp Crame where he was strangled to death allegedly by Senior Police Officer 3 Ricky Sta. Isabel.
However, Sta. Isabel denied killing the South Korean national but admitted that he brought Jee's body to Gream funeral home in Caloocan City on orders of his immediate boss, Dumlao.
Dela Rosa said Dumlao, currently under the restrictive custody at the PNP Headquarters Support Service, will issue his affidavit on Monday.
"He is willing to tell all ... to give the whole picture of the story, according to his version. Kaya nga titignan ng imbestigador 'yan kung nagsasabi siya ng totoo na sasabihin niya lahat," he said.
Dela Rosa said they will conduct verification on the alleged involvement of at least four NBI assets, including Jerry Omlang, who is reportedly working as a driver of an NBI director.
Omlang was seen in the CCTV footage with Sta. Isabel while withdrawing money from an ATM in Greenhills, San Juan City.
After being reported missing, President Rodrigo Duterte gave Dumlao a 24-hour ultimatum or he will reward a P5-million bounty to someone who could get him either "dead or alive." (VoxPop Philippines)
