RENATO “Boy” Duran of Aksyon Radyo Bacolod was re-elected president of the Negros Press Club (NPC) during its annual general assembly and election of officers held at the NPC Building in Bacolod City Saturday.
This is the first time in the history of the club that the same president was elected for two consecutive years.
Duran was unopposed.
He said the trust given to him by the members is a challenge for him to do more and work better in his second term.
“We continue to call for the support and cooperation of the members to realize all the plans and projects of the club,” Duran said.
VoxPop Bacolod reporters Erwin Nicavera and Glazyl Masculino were voted vice president and treasurer, respectively. Both were also unopposed.
Dolly Yasa of The Daily Guardian won as secretary with 34 votes, defeating Ranie Azue of Panay News by a margin of five votes.
For auditor, Elsie Jolingan of Negros Daily Bulletin, who got 34 votes, bested Rox Estrella of DyRL with 23 votes.
Elected directors were Chrysee Samillano of The Visayan Daily Star with 47 votes; Edgar Lucasan of DyRL, 46 votes; Jemlo Victosa of RMN-DyHB, 40 votes; Aquilino Ciocon of DyAF, 40 votes; Merlinda Pedrosa of VoxPop Bacolod, 38 votes; Eric Magbanua of Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, 38 votes; Owen Bayog of Negros Daily Bulletin, 38 votes; Hernan Garciniego of The Visayan Daily Star, 37 votes; and Martian Muyco of ABS-CBN Bacolod, 35 votes.
The new set of officers will start their term on March 1.
Before the election was held, Duran presented the accomplishment report of the club during his first term. These included initiating seminars, sports events, partnerships, and outreach activities geared toward advancing the capabilities of the members and benefiting the community as well.
The financial status of the club was also presented.
