Durian Central: Kaye’s new venture

KAYE Garino used to model for us during my early days in photography when co-hobbyists would engage in themed photo shoots.

Slowly, Kaye learned the art of maquillage or the use of make-up and cosmetics where she found her passion. Kaye became one of the in-demand hair and make-up stylists not just in photo shoots but in other projects such as weddings and advertising as well.

One of her clients for a local advertising shoot was the then unknown actor James Reid, who has now rose to popularity alongside real-life girlfriend Nadine Lustre with their famous "Jadine" love team.

A few years back, Kaye left Davao City to get more career opportunities in Manila where she had more lucrative projects that further honed her craft.

Last month, I got in touch with Kaye again where she was able to share the news of her new venture- the Microblading.

Microblading is a permanent makeup technique that falls under the guidelines of tattoo artistry. It is a relatively new, manual method of tattooing. It is considered to be semi-permanent as compared to the traditional hair stroke techniques done with a machine.

Microblading is done using a very fine blade to deposit pigments into the dermis. Eyebrow embroidery & 3D feather hair stroke methods are all applications of microblading.

Kaye is organizing this full permanent make-up training this coming September 29 to October 1. The training will combine various techniques from the United States, Europe, Thailand, Singapore and Korea.

“Instead of flying to Manila, we will be bringing the experts here. This is the first permanent make-up training here in Mindanao,” Kaye said.

“Now, being a make-up artist, and being updated on the latest trend sa aesthetic industry. I found out that this service is one of the latest craze lalo na sa mga artista. And so I researched more and more about this until I found out na most practitioners who offer this service are Manila-based and yung mga Manila-based ang pumupunta dito sa Mindanao to offer this kind of service,” Kay shared her new endeavor.

According to Kaye the workshop is for make-up artists, salon-spa owners and practitioners, beauty junkies or anyone whose interest and business is related to the aesthetic industry.

“Surely maganda ang return for them. Pwede rin siya sa mga mommies na gusto magkaroon ng skill to expand/add sa stream of income nila and even to whoever is interested to learn and earn,” Kaye said, describing the training as a skill which can help provide additional income or livelihood in a lucrative aesthetic business.

For those who are interested, the training will be held on September 29 to October 1 at Fiona Briz Salon and Spa in Tagum City. For more details, you can contact Kaye Garino at mobile numbers 09163404048 / 09257701919 or you can message her through Facebook account, Kaye G Kaye.
