PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte called Friday on the policemen to closely monitor the politicians with supposed drug links and the terrorist groups that continue to operate in the country.
"Narcopolitics has entered the Philippine democracy. You monitor that. That's why I did not allow the elections now because the mayors, governments involved [in drugs], they will still have the money to spend and be in power," Duterte told the police in his camp visit in General Santos City.
Duterte said that the third and final drug list contains the names of individuals working in the government, including judges, police and local officials. However, he is yet to make public the narco list.
In August, the President said he was amenable to Congress' proposal to postpone the Sangguniang Kabataan and barangay elections on October 31 for fear that campaign funds of the candidates will be sourced from drug syndicates.
"I am afraid that the drug money will sit into the electoral process. You will just be adding to our headache… It will then be difficult to us," he said.
Duterte also said the police force should prepare because his administration's "next battle" would be on terrorism.
"I cannot discuss the things that we plan to do. It's supposed to be public. But mainly, it's something like covert operation. That’s crime prevention," the President said.
Earlier, the President urged the government troops to remain vigilant and observe each individual who is acting strangely. (Sunnex)
