PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday denied that the administration is planning to steal the vice presidency from Vice President Leni Robredo.
Duterte guaranteed that Robredo will stay as the country’s highest second official in the land until her six-year stint ends.
“I will assure Leni [Robredo] and the rest of the Bicol region that you will have her until the very end of her term. There is no such thing as removing of a vice president,” the President said in a chance interview at the groundbreaking ceremony of the New Bicol International Airport Terminal in Legazpi, Albay.
Following Duterte’s "desist order" to Robredo not to attend the Cabinet meetings, the Vice President insinuated that the plot to unseat her “is now being set into motion.”
“I had been warned of a plot to steal the vice presidency. I have chosen to ignore this and focus on the job at hand. But the events of recent days indicate that this plot is now being set into motion,” Robredo said.
“However, as your duly elected Vice President, I will not allow the vice residency to be stolen. I will not allow the will of the people to be thwarted. I will continue to serve the Filipino family and fulfill their dream for a better life,” she added. (Sunnex)
