PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Monday was officially installed as the new Chief Scout of the Boy Scout of the Philippines (BSP).
Through traditional investiture rites, Duterte assumed the post vacated by his predecessor, former President Benigno Aquino III.
The investiture ceremony was attended by National Executive Board led by BSP national president Wendel Avisado and National Office Staff chaired by Acting Secretary General Rogelio Villa Jr.
Other participants included kid, cub, boy, senior, and rover scouts; scout leaders; and council scout executives.
Duterte is the seventh President to become Chief Scout, starting from the late President Ferdinand Marcos in 1974.
Presidential Decree 460 provides that the President of the Philippines will automatically become the Chief Scout of the BSP.
The BSP, with more than two million members, is the biggest uniformed youth organization in the country and is considered one of the biggest groups in the world. (VoxPop Philippines)
