Duterte skips Apec gala dinner after 'feeling sick'

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte had skipped the gala dinner hosted by Peruvian President Pedro Pablo for the world leaders participating in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Meeting in Lima.

According to Presidential Communications Office Secretary Martin Andanar, the 71-year old President was "not feeling well."

"Masama ang pakiramdam," said Andanar when asked by reporters why Duterte did not attend the gala dinner.

Duterte was instead represented by Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr.

This was not the first time that Duterte skipped a schedule.

When he attended the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit and Related Summits in Laos in September, he also skipped the ASEAN-US and ASEAN-India summits because he was not feeling well.

He also did not attend the ASEAN-United Nations summit during that time.

Just recently, the President failed to show up to his scheduled interview with Kris Aquino due to migraine. (SDR/Sunnex)
