PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte said Tuesday that roughly 200 rogue policemen would face summary dismissal after defying his order of deployment to Basilan.
Duterte, in a chance interview, also vehemently warned the erring members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) that they could face death as they are now under the government's watchlist.
He said they should not be surprised if “they are killed one of these days, one by one.”
“They should be subjected to summary dismissal and I have requested the police to form, particularly a squad, and monitor these police who have been dismissed. Most of them are ninjas and criminals so they are high [targets] in the list,” the President said.
“And do not be surprised if they are killed because they are wanted, and so are the police who are dismissed or committing crimes. If they lose their job, they will continue with their plunder, they will continue with their crime. So there will be tasked to monitor them from time to time,” he added.
Only 53 of the 287 policemen heeded the President and PNP Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa's orders to be reassigned in Basilan last February 21.
The other 40 have been excused as they have to attend court hearings for their pending charges. The rest did not show up at the scheduled deployment.
Duterte said the rogue cops who refused to be sent to Basilan should not be complacent because he would not hesitate to kill them, if they continue to perform illicit acts.
“I will really mark them and I would like to warn them: I will not spare you. You will really die first if you make a wrong move. You will die, that’s for sure. Your spouses will be widowed,” the President said.
“Do not fool the government. Do not even try. Do not even think about it that if you do not have your job, there is no big money, you will resort to drugs. You are special target[s],” he added. (VoxPop Philippines)
