PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte will hold a sixth Cabinet meeting on Wednesday afternoon to discuss several matters, including the implementation of executive order (EO) on Freedom of Information (FOI).
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said he would give the President an update on when the EO on FOI will take effect.
On July 24, the President signed the executive order in a bid to make government documents and records available for public scrutiny.
The EO on FOI only covers all government offices under the executive branch. Access to information, however, will be denied if the information falls under any of the exceptions enshrined in the Constitution, existing law, or jurisprudence.
Andanar said the President would also seek an update to Climate Change Commission vice chair and executive director Emmanuel de Guzman on the Paris agreement on climate change, which he initially flouted.
The President had then become open to ratifying the climate deal as long as it would not affect the country's current economic situation.
At the Cabinet meeting, Andanar said Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre would present a study on small town lottery while Science and Technology Fortunato dela Peña would talk about Science and Technology Priority Programs.
Duterte, the communications chief said, would also hear from Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. the proposed cabinet clustering and the results of the social development initiatives summit.
Also among the topics to be tackled are the proposed legislative agenda of the current administration and updates on the anti-drug media campaign that recently rolled-out. (Sunnex)
