JAN Lucas Elevera's goal in the 25th minute gave Ateneo de Davao University a 1-0 win over DC United to capture the Davao Regional Football Association (DRFA) Grassroots Football tournament championship at the Tionko field Monday.
The Rey Henry de Leon-coached Ateneo capitalized on their height advantage and vast experience to pull off with the victory.
Ateneo was bannered by Kyle Sy, Francis Dela Pena, Ayn Cruz, Rhianne Mendoza, Lucas Elevera, Lance Antepuesto, Ash Gabriel, Gian Paolo Sortirani, Taiyo Nakata, Vic Andrean Cabatbat, Psalm Loquero, Jacy Valverde, RC Peñarendo and Ylac Provido.
"We had more attacking chances and attempts. We have always been teaching them to be overcomers, teamworkers, hardworkers and to be persistent in their goals for the greater glory of God!," De Leon said.
DC United consultant coach Albert Lim, for his part, said it was a good game.
"we dominated the phasing earlier, but ADDU is bannered by older and bigger players that pressured my boys. Nagkataon lang na napasok talaga ni Lucas yung attack attempt nya pero it was a good game."
Crocs FC stamped Southpoint FC, 3-0, in their battle for third.
