Elias Tabac wins Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge 2017

ELIAS Tabac of Team Tri-Buddies Tagum emerged champion in the Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge 2017 that came to a close on April 29 at St. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

Tabac clocked a total of 11 hours, two minutes and 40 seconds to annex the open elite category title over Marcial Catangi of Team RCL (11:41.27), defending champion Dexter Nonato of Team Reliance (12:01.58), Ronald Dagaang of the Dagaang Brothers (12:08.46) and Danny Tapao of BumbaGensan (12:11.27), who wounded up in the next four places.

Tabac also copped the fastest summiter and fastest trail runner award in the event presented by local government unit (LGU) of Sta. Cruz in partnership with visit davao fun sale (VDFS) in partnership with Department of Toursim (DOT) in Davao Region.

The open elite champion went home with the champion purse of P70,000 while the next four places received P50,000, P30,000 and P15,000, respectively.

Jonathan Pido of Team Altra (12:18.04), Rebuden Bayamban of Bumba Gensan (12:37.46) and Rodel Bustamante of Team Philippine National Police (PNP) (12:53.12) didn't go home with an empty handed as they received a consolation prize of P5,000 each.

Team FPV, meanwhile, clinched the all-male relay crown behind RonieTorlao, JaylardDarayido and Jeorge Andrade who checked in at 9:48.47, race passing Team PNP composed of Jun Adel, Romer Agustin and Derick de Garcia (11:04.34) and Roland Gubal, Nikko Tapao and Elmer Bartolo-bannered Team Extra Strong (12:40.53), who finished second and third, respectively.

In the distaff side, Team Philippine National Police (PNP) powered by Jessa Mae Arenas, Salome Zamora and Giegs Castillo timed in at 19:23.36 to rule the all-female relay category.

Fastest water tuber award was given to Christopher Eyao (51:11) while IrezboneBarrientos was crowned the fastest mountain biker. (ABM)
