DURING the weekend, a billboard along Morayta Avenue caught the attention of pedestrians and motorists not because of the brand or image on the marquee, but the message it sent out.
A certain Xian Gaza, who claims to be an admirer of Kapamilya actress Erich Gonzales, is asking the latter to have coffee with him.
"I can't even espresso how much I like you a latte. Will you... drink coffee with me?" the billboard read.
Gaza, who made the bold move, said in a Facebook post that he'd rather try to ask the actress and fail than not try at all.
"I can't move forward with life without following what my heart truly desires," he wrote.
The businessman also revealed in an Instagram post that he actually met Gonzales early this year and was mesmerized by the actress.
It was in January 5 when they bumped into each other at the Uptown Mall Cinema in Bonifacio Global City, where they both watched "Assassin's Creed".
Gaza said he was nursing a broken heart during that time.
"To my surprise you were seated right there in front of me along with some other four. After the movie, I mustered all courage I had up my sleeve in order to approach you and took this very selfie so that I may remember that magical moment. You, being kind, happily obliged. At that moment, you had left a massive imprint on my heart. You left me mesmerized," he wrote.
He said that the actress "touched a portion of my heart that even myself can't describe nor put into words."
Gaza added that a lot will judge or laugh at him, but he just wants to meet again the actress.
"I know people shall laugh at me now. Maybe some are even questioning who this crazy ugly piece of shit is but I won't give a F so long as I believe that happiness is the greatest form of success, and right now, thinking of you really gives me genuine happiness, I mean it."
Gonzales, on her part, seemed to appreciate her admirer's gesture.
In a text message to Darla Sauler, which was posted on the latter's showbiz blog, Gonzales said "ang cute ng effort ni Kuya".
On the prospect of having a coffee with Gaza, the actress' reaction: "It's fine. Let's see when I get back. There's nothing wrong naman if we talk over coffee, pero dapat kasama ka (Sauler)."
Gonzales is currently single after her failed relationship with Japanese-Brazilian model Daniel Matsunaga. (VoxPop Philippines)
