POLICE officers should be transparent to the public and to the media, according to Ozamiz City Police Chief Jovie Espenido.
The police official said he is open to journalists and he allows reporters to open the blotter.
He also gives press releases.
Members of the Cebu press criticized the move of the Philippine National Police of not allowing the journalists to read spot reports—the summary of incidents and police operations.
The memorandum from Camp Crame was sent to lower units through text messages.
Police Regional Office 7 Director Jose Mario Espino said the police will not hold information for the media despite the order.
