ANOTHER drug trafficking complaint has been filed against Senator Leila de Lima for her alleged involvement on the proliferation of illegal drug trade in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Deputy Directors Reynaldo Esmeralda and Ruel Lasala filed complaints against de Lima and former Bureau of Corrections (Bucor) officer-in-charge and now NBI director Rafael Ragos before the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday.
In their 20-page complaint affidavit, the two called de Lima the "mother of all drug lords" for utilizing her power as the then-Justice Secretary to designate men in order to allegedly ensure perpetuation of illegal drug trade in the national penitentiary.
The two used as basis in their complaint the testimony of Ragos as well as the affidavit of former NBI intelligence agent Jovencio Ablen, which corroborated Ragos' claims.
In his testimony before the House committee on Justice, Ragos said he delivered twice drug money amounting to P5 million to de Lima's residence in Paranaque.
According to Ragos, the drug money came from NBP high profile inmate and drug lord Peter Co.
De Lima and Ragos are set to face charges for violation of the section 5 (sale of illegal drugs) in relation to section 26(b) (conspiracy) of Republic Act 9165 also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Last Tuesday, the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC), represented by its Chair Emeritus Dante Jimenez, filed complaints against de Lima and her cohorts who allegedly conspired with her in the drug trade inside and outside the NBP. (Sunnex)
